Reading book

Over the term we have been working on a story book for the 5 year olds at our school. We had the option to make the book on Canva and book creator. Before we started our books we had to make some character profiles which included how old they are, what their personal traits are and more about them. Once we had finished doing that we had to draft our book on a google document. Once the draft was done we could start making our book. I decided to make my book on book creator because I thought that they had a lot of things to make a book with.

Flox art

This week in art we had a task which was to create a Flox digital art piece. We had to watch a video which explained about how to make a gradient and also more about the Folx artwork. For our create on a slideshow we had to make a gradient background with some sort of shape. We had some images provided that were mostly native things to New Zealand like trees, bushes, branches, flowers, birds, leaves and insects.
I chose to do mine with multiple greens and a few birds.

Writing

This week in writing we have had to create a story book for the years 0-2. We had to make our own character profile and describe things about them. We used AI on Canva to create our images as be as we can to describe our characters. Firstly we had to make a draft for our book and write word for word. For example if I wrote it for ages from 3-7 then there would have to be 500-800 words. We got to read many different kids story books to get some ideas about how the layout is and what languages that can hook the reader in. When we finish our draft we get to make our final book on a app called book creator when we have finished that we get to read it to the years 0-2.

RE

A couple of weeks ago in RE we learned about becoming a Saint. On the 1st and 2nd of November are very important dates in the Church because it is All Saints and All Souls day. We learnt that there are four different steps in the journey of becoming a Saint, we had to make a poster and explain about each step. This is my create

We had another task which was to make a fact file about Mary we had to include where she was born and very important things that had happened throughout her life. Here is my create.

Writing

This week in writing we had to write about if we thought men and women should be allowed to compete against each other in the same events. We had to write our reasons why we thought they should be able to compete together. On the whiteboard there were 2 sides. One said if they could compete in certain events together and the other side said that they could definitely not compete in the same events. Some of the students thought that they could compete in shooting, archery and equestrian together because in shooting you just have to control the aim and in equestrian the horse just does most of the work and the person just has to try to control it.

I think that they should not be able to compete in the same events.

New Olympic Sport Propossal

For the start of this term and when the Olympics are going we have been focusing a few of our subjects on it. This week reading one of our tasks was to think of a sport that is not in the Olympics or that has been but is not anymore. We had to write a proposal that was at least a paragraph for the future Olympics and for them to take it into action and hopefully add it.

I choose to do netball because I like to play the sport and I think that it should be enjoyed at the Olympics. Netball is more of a Commonwealth game sport because it is more popular in the Commonwealth. There is also a somthing similar to the Olympics that is called the Commonwealth Games but they are only allowed to have countries that are in the Commonwealth.

Olympic based PBL

PBL this week was based on the 2024 Olympics. Because the Olympics are every four years the teachers give us the oppertuinty to learn about them and also to learn about when they first started and how much the have developed over all the years. We have read many differnt articles and had lots of disscusions with others.

For the PBL create this week was to make a poster on Canva or Google drawings we had to create our own and it had to be something to do with New Zealand. For the options there are Mascots, Medals, Torches, Rings and Pictograms. I choose to make a new New Zealand mascot. I added things that were significant to New Zealand on it and even the New Zealand flag.

Olympic Reading Create

This week in reading we were learning about the Olympics and the ancient Greek Olympics and how the Greek Gods represented the Olympics and that a man called Emperor Theodosius banned the Olympics because he did not like how the Gods represented the Olympics. The Olympics started again in 1896. They have been going ever since but they have become more and more upgraded to being better for the contestants and letting men and women both compete.

For our create we had to make a poster on either Canva or Google drawings. On it we had to write about what it would be like to be there and how different it would be there compared to now.

RE Timeline

This week in RE we had to find the important dates and events that Jesus had participated in, in the bible. Once we had found all of the important dates and put it into a timeline we made sure to include making sure that the stories had the section in the old testament and the new testament also BC and AD (BC means Before Christ and AD means Anno Domini.)
For our create we had to get into a group of 2-4 and we had to create our timeline on a google drawing.We also had to make a google document about some bible scriptures and put the messages from the bible scriptures that we found.

RE Poem

This week for RE we had to create a poem about God’s Creations on this planet describing about nature, beauty and complexity. Following on from our Laudato Si creates from the previous weeks. We had to choose a type of poem to do for our create for example acrostic, limerick, haiku, diamante and sonnet. I chose to do a acrostic poem and the word that I chose was nature because I thought of some words that I could use to describe God’s Creation.
